Dishonest
Pseudo-Intellectuals Today started off with one hell of a rainstorm just before it was time to get out of bed. On most any other day, I would have been tempted to stay and sleep in. Alas, duty called in the form of work today. Overall, it was a much more productive workday. It tends to be that way when people get the hell out of my way. I enjoyed writing a commentary on that idiotic James Fallows article tonight. That endeavor raises a number of interesting issues, such as the whole Peikoff/Kelley dispute over the nature of ideas (and whether ideas can be morally good or bad). It also raises questions in my own mind about copyright -- since the article is freely available online, and since my own commentary changes the original significantly, is it "fair use" to post it on the net? I am assuming the answer is yes. I suppose when the Atlantic Monthly gets all upset about the thing, I will know otherwise. *laugh* In any case, the Fallows article is unbelievable in its intellectual dishonesty. Quite a smear piece. The workout was tiring tonight, and that coupled with this minor amount of writing and html work has left me exhausted. Comments? Visit my Message Boards. |
