Vastasia I received quite an interesting email today from one of my smartest friends, who for now shall remain nameless. This friend has been struggling for a while to get out of .... what to call it? A rut, for lack of a better word. And it seems like every few months I get a probing, questioning email like this that shows everything that is brilliant about her (oops, now I've given away gender). So the question is, how to get out of that rut? I don't know. Much like there is that fine line in The Fountainhead where Howard Roark tells Gail Wynand, "You weren't born to be a secondhander," it is also true that my friend was not born to be anything less than brilliant. But my somewhat pithy little quote is hardly a roadmap to brilliance -- just an observation. I suspect that part of my friend's problem is that she really doesn't believe the world deserves her at her fully brilliant best. I can't argue with that. It doesn't. But I do. And so do others like me. And we will trade our best for it. I wonder if she won't consider that? Comments? Visit my Message Boards. |
