Callie and I got a very nice email from none other than Willy Braun today, who cruised into 8 More Miles and sent some very kind words.   He also pointed out that we had one of the words wrong from the song "Eight More Miles" on the splash page.  OOPS!  Can we say embarrassing?  He was really nice about it, though.  You know you've made it as a band when we webgeeks start to come out! 

Meanwhile, the webpage is finally shaping up.  Willy was far too kind -- all that was up today was the skeleton navigation.  We got the guestbook and message boards added tonight, but no real substantive additions.  These things take way too much time.

My MS Frontpage 2000 I just ordered via free 2-day shipping seems to have gotten lost, effectively turning my free 2-day shipping into the normal 5-7 day shipping the post office does, if that.  Oh well, the time will be better spent on the dissertation anyway.

For some reason, some people think I'm frustrated at work because so many things don't make any sense.  They are mistaken.  I don't think I could be more serene or happy right now.  I'm doing good political analysis of countries where all kinds of funky stuff is going on, and the fact that the company might very well crater and I'm powerless to stop it really doesn't bother me, precisely because I am powerless to stop it.  Meanwhile, if they want to pay me to do work that I enjoy while things fall apart, more power to them.  They have all the answers after all.

I wondered earlier if an internet "radio" station that played only Texas Music could be made commercially viable.  There's certainly a demand for realaudio feeds from stations that play a good mix of Texas music (Ely, Keen, RK, etc.) as the little station in Victoria has discovered, but what if you did away with expensive transmitters and expensive support personnel for the most part and ran an internet radio station?  Could it be made commercially viable?  Email me with thoughts on this, or leave a message on the boards.
