Vice President of Loyalty

Recently, A T & T became a Continental Airlines partner, meaning that long distance time purchased through the company would earn Continental OnePass miles.  I decided to switch to A T & T and did so via an online form -- or so I thought.

I received two pieces of mail from A T & T today.  One was a letter from a Vice President of Loyalty (VPL -- no, I'm not making this up).  The VPL informed me that there had been a problem in switching me to A T & T, but that they were there to help me, and that I should dial 1 800 something to let them help me.  Now think for a second -- I tried to sign up online to avoid the inconvenience of doing crap like this over the phone, but because they are incompetent, I need to do what I was trying to avoid in the first place so that they can fix their incompetence!

But I laughed when I opened the second piece of mail from A T & T, because it was my welcome package to the service.  It also included a nifty little form that, in the event I became dissatisfied, I could fill out to be reimbursed for the cost of switching (something like $5 I think).  I filled out the form, of course, and on the line marked "Reason for dissatisfaction" I wrote something along the lines of "See the enclosed letter from the VPL.  I find it odd that because you people have your heads up your asses, I need to call you to help you with the problem.  Please send me my $5 as I am very dissatisfied."  I need to mail the letter to A T & T tomorrow.

I now aspire to become the VPL somewhere.

I tried to go see the Groobees at the Mucky Duck tonight.  But the opening act was so dreadful I had to leave before I saw them.  The whole thing was already a fiasco because we had won free tickets -- that the Mucky Duck didn't want to honor -- except they did wind up honoring them after we had already bought additional tickets.  Stupid, really.  I think maybe the Mucky Duck should have their VPL send me a letter.
